The Unmounting Process

I recently bit the bullet and started unmounting some of my retired sets to be used on the new Clear Acrylic blocks that Stampin’ Up offers.  I’ve done this to cut down on storage space that these boxes take up.  When unmounted they fit in much smaller, DVD style cases.  Also carried by Stampin up 🙂

Clear Mount Cases

Here are the supplies you’ll need to get started:

Microwave

Craft & Rubber Scissors

Tombow Mono Multi Adhesive

Foam Craft Brush

Wood Mounted Stamp Sets

Step 1

Microwave your stamps (I do 1 set at a time outside of the case) for 8-10 seconds.  Gently peel the rubber with the foam off the wood block and set each image into your empty stamp case, sticky side up.

Step 2

Brush a thin layer of Tombow Adhesive on the foam of your stamp.  You’ll only need about 1-3 small dots of adhesive depending on the stamp size.

Step 3

Peel the coordinating label off of your stamp block and place on the glued foam (I found the foam wasn’t sticky enough to hold the label without adding the glue layer)

Step 4

Use your Craft & Rubber scissors to cut the label to fit the foam.

Step 5

Brush another layer of Tombow Adhesive with the Foam brush.  Again 1-3 drops depending on stamp size.  Then set the image aside to dry for approx 30 mins – 1hr (I checked after an hour).

Step 6

After waiting for the glue to try, test out a stamp or 2 on your Acrylic block.  If it is ultra sticky, you can use your jeans or your arm to stick the stamp to and remove some of the extra stickiness.  You’re ready to Stamp and store your newly unmounted set!
